In collaboration with Historical Performance, Juilliard Opera presents Francesco Cavalli’s Erismena, staged by Dutch-Peruvian director Lisenka Heijboer Castañón with Avi Stein conducting Juilliard415. Erismena, first performed in Venice in 1655, is thought to have been the first opera to be translated into English. This is the first time that the English translation will be sung in New York.
