Deemed a ‘rising star soprano’ by Korean newspaper Dong-A Ilbo,
Gemma Nha is a 23-year-old Korean-Australian soprano currently pursuing her Master of Music in Vocal Arts at The Juilliard School with Darrell Babidge. In the 24/25 season, she will be a part of the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Ryan Opera Center. Gemma’s repertoire ranges from Mozart to contemporary musical theatre, having sung roles such as Barbarina Volksoper Wien and Zerlina Schlosstheater Schönbrunn, as well as making her professional debut as Tuptim in The King and I with Seefestspiele Mörbisch. Gemma recently won First Prize in the 18th Seoul International Music Competition and became a National Semifinalist of the Laffont Metropolitan Opera Competition. This season, Gemma makes two role debuts with Juilliard Opera: Ruth Baldwin in John Musto and Mark Campbell’s Later the Same Evening and Flerida in Cavalli’s Erismena.
